William Buckley Davis was born the son of Thomas B. Davis and Elizabeth Hood on June 17, 1844. He enlisted in Company G at Camp Wool, Athens County, Ohio. He is listed in the 1883 History of Hocking County. Later, he moved to California to be near an uncle who founded Davis, California. His next closest relative appears to be Rebecca Manley Davis Will.
