John Barron, Co G

John Barron was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant from Private on October 24, 1861. He was promoted to 1st Lieutenant of Company G on March 26, 1863 after numerous vacancies were created following the Battle of Stones River. He was placed on detached duty from February, 1864 until his mustering out on November 9, 1864 with his comrades who chose not to re-enlist.

The death of Mr. John Barron, an aged and highly respected citizen occurred Monday morning at the home of his son Frank Barron. Mr. Barron was sick only a short time............. owing to his extreme age, his recovery was not looked for. He was about 86 years old and was a member of the G.A.R. which will have charge of the funeral Wednesday afternoon at the Presbyterian church where Mr. Barron was a faithful member for many years.
