From the Roster of Ohio Troops in the Civil War:

John W. Hushower - Corporal--Company G-- 18 (at time of enlistment)--Appointed Corporal October 16, 1861 and was mustered out with others on November 9, 1864 at the expiration of their term of service. In one of the journals, he is called "Wes." Therefore his middle name may have been Wesley. No further details are available.

J. W. HUSHOWER IS DEAD TODAY
Former Resident Dies in Columbus, Was Civil War Veteran.

NELSONVILLE, Sept. 4.--- Miss Bertha Nixon received a message this morning announcing the death of her uncle, J. W. Hushower, which occurred at an early hour today at the family home in Columbus. Mr. Hushower, a Civil War veteran was a former Nelsonville resident where he was well-known.

He leaves his wife and following children: Mrs. Anthony Ucker, Mrs. Ray Burchfield, Mrs. Ed Pavlec, Mrs. Harold Smith, John and Charles Hushower, all of Columbus. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at eh late residence, 333 S. Champion Avenue, Columbus.
