Biography of

Launcelot Scott, Co G

Launcelot L. Scott was born in 1844, the son of Launcelot Scott and his wife, Jane. Information for his early years is not available, but he served in Company G of the 18th Ohio as a corporal and later sergeant. After the war, he returned to the community at Nelsonville, Athens County to resume his peaceful pursuits. He appears to be one of the promoters of the Columbus and Hocking Valley Railroad which did so much for the coal mining operations after the war. He along with Lawrence Steenrod, another fellow soldier from the Company G days, and Dow Poston were instrumental in bringing this about. More information will be added as it becomes available.
